About John Mellor
I was born and brought up in Liverpool, UK just after The War and went straight from school to sea as a young officer in the Royal Navy. After five years I resigned and worked as a professional yacht skipper for quite a few years before settling to full time writing. I have lived in and renovated a number of boats and houses in various places, and now share a delightful house and 10 acres of weeds near Nelson, New Zealand with wife, son, daughter and a motley collection of animals and boats. “Timothy and the Dragon’s Gate,” by Adrienne Kress is a fantasy story about a boy who must help a dragon to escape from the human body that he is trapped in.
“Timothy and the Dragon’s Gate” is a sequel to “Alex and the Ironic Gentleman”. Readers of the first saga will remember that Alex is a brave young girl who sets off on a fantastic journey to save her middle school teacher from the dangerous pirates of the infamous ship The Ironic Gentleman. Now Adrienne Kress has written a second book that is just as lively and exciting.

“The Compound,” by S. A. Bodeen is a chilling science fiction story about a rich family living in a specialized bomb shelter designed to help them survive a nuclear war.
Eli Yanakakis and his family entered the Compound six year ago, when they learned that a full scale nuclear war was about to begin. When your father is a billionaire he can afford anything, even a multi-million dollar bomb shelter with enough supplies to outlast a nuclear winter. The bomb shelter has rooms full of supplies, a kitchen, a gym, a music room, and even a small church. But what it is missing is Eli’s twin brother Eddy and his grandmother. “Welcome Home or Someplace Like It,” by Charlotte Agell is a realistic fiction novel about a young girl who finds herself living with her grandfather in a small town in Maine.
Aggie B. Wing and her brother Thorne aren’t particularly excited about moving to Maine. After living in Port Chester, New York they are sure that Maine will be rather dull in comparison. But their famous mother, a writer of romance novels, is determined to drop them off for the summer to live with their ninety-one-year-old grandfather.
Ludwig, Maine has a population of 159 and one general store with a sign that says “Ardis’s Quikstop.” Read the rest »
